How To Start A Business From Home. (For Profit)

However, it is hard to move forward with confidence and certainty without direction.

This article talks about some intial things to consider before you do spend a cent, we have followed our own advice time and again over the last 30 years in working from home in our own businesses.

We currently own and operate a small commercial cleaning business. Employing between 20 and 30 part-time and casual staff.

What we’ve learned over the years is applicable to anyone wanting to start their own business, regardless of the industry, we hope you benefit from our experience.

Things To Consider.

You’re about to tackle an adventure; your own business. If you already have a clear idea about what sort of business you’d like to set up and run then that’s great. However, it may be worth your while to review things just to make sure you’ve nailed it.

We are about to go into; Research leading to some Decisions and then, and not before those things are done, you’ll be ready to take Action. But just before that take a moment and read through some of a few things we’ve learned from being in business these many years.

There’s a huge difference between starting something, then continuing it, and sustaining it in the long term. Just because something is started it doesn’t mean it will continue to exist. Survive!

Right now you are in the Pre-Start Phase.

Don’t rush it, allow at least a week to 10 days to complete this phase.

There’s always temptation to rush ahead of things but let’s do this in sequence, you’ll thank yourself later if you do.

Some Context And Important Points. Keep These in Mind.

Any business operates within a Category…think about that for a moment…for example we run a cleaning business, generally speaking you could say we are a cleaning business, that seems too obvious to mention, but wait. Cleaning in itself is a huge industry, a multi billion dollar industry in Australia alone, it’s worth $9.0 billion.

[ The Commercial Cleaning Services industry has performed well over the past five years. The industry is projected to generate revenue of $9.0 billion in the current year, up 2.6% for the year.]https://www.ibisworld.com.au

  • We, therefore, don’t seek to compete in the large and broad pool of cleaning services. Instead, preferring to select out and service smaller groups within it.
  • Find your niche within an industry
  • No matter what industry you choose I suggest you apply that as your guiding principle.
  • Your business could become quite diverse eventually, but it’s better to focus on a narrower part of the whole; getting very good at that before mixing it up.
  • We also work at creating profit centers, each client we service has to be a profit center.
  • Each part must return on investment, whether it’s money, time, or energy.

Invest meaning, definition, what is invest: to put money, effort, time, etc. into something to make a profit or get an advantage.

Research Begins. (Niche Research)

It’s too hard to work the big broad area within the cleaning industry or any industry for that matter.

Think about it for a moment; it’s not hard to work out just how big our example industry is, how many things get cleaned in one day. How many sectors of our society require cleaning and cleaning services. It’s almost overwhelming, isn’t it?

So, I urge you to work in narrower fields regardless of the industry. And become very good at that narrow field.

Any industry can be broken down into smaller and smaller parts, you should break things down until they feel right for you. I challenge you to narrow down your chosen field to the point of knowing you could actually create in it.

Use a pen & paper and break any industry down. Here are some ideas to get started on there are much more; just let your imagination run wild, you’ll find them.

Keyword Research Tool (Jaaxy)

Another tool you can use to get ideas from is a Keyword Research Tool. Because I’m doing online marketing too I make use of Keyword Research tools such as Jaaxy to polish my research. Read more about Jaaxy and other tools you could make us of to further your own research here.

You’ll be able to make great use of such tools to find ideas for a business. Here’s a list of possible Categories (not niches) you could dig deeper into with such tools to find ideas for your new business.

  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Cleaning
  • Garden Care
  • Food Services
  • Make-Up Artistry
  • Bridal Care
  • Delivery Services
  • Internet Businesses
  • Catering
  • Pet Care
  • General Building Care
  • Handyman Services
  • Home Based Care
  • Professional Organising
  • Blogging
  • Interior Designing
  • Inspection Services
  • Hair Care

Somewhere in this process, one or more items will jump out at you more than another, if so, there’s a good chance you’ve just found your business idea.

Note: Resist any temptation to rush ahead. You have more research to do.

Research Continues.

The following steps don’t need to take a long time, you should have your answers within 7 days, with these things answered you’ll have a higher degree of certainty about your venture. These done well will give you more certainty and confidence, which you’ll need when moving forward.

  • Do you have expertise or experience you can call on?
  • If not, you will need to consider undertaking some training.
  • Will that take time and money?
  • Can you earn while you learn?
  • Do you need any sort of licensing or insurances etc, to undertake the business?
    • What businesses are allowed within your residential area if any?
    • Are there zoning requirements?
    • For most businesses this won’t be an issue, it’s safer to check beforehand
    • Do you need any insurances?
    • Public Liability, personal injury anything else?
    • Do you need to register you business what tax requirements are there?
    • How will you accept payments, cash, cards or bank transfers? These need setting up, not yet, but eventually.
    • Do you issue receipts?
    • And so on.
  • What equipment will you require, and what’s it going to cost you?
  • Do you already have equipment at hand, and or can you borrow items if your budget doesn’t permit buying them?
  • Do you need transport?
  • What other legal requirements must you be aware of? Complete any due diligence.

due dil·i·gence

noun

noun: due diligence

  1. reasonable steps taken by a person in order to satisfy a legal requirement, especially in buying or selling something.

Summary:

It’s important to your success not to rush through the steps outlined above.

BUT, these will get you underway and to the point of STARTING. Something, which we will go into in our next post, so stay tuned, meanwhile work through the little plan above.

I guarantee if you do these well, you will gain a lot in the way of beneficial insight, you’ll learn much about the idea of being in a home-based business. And a little about yourself as you move forward; if you move forward.

You may decide while doing these relatively few steps, that being in business for yourself was more of a romantic idea instead of something you are dedicated to, and find it’s not for you. That’s a very good thing to discover, and before you lay out some cash.

So if that happens be happy and realise that you worked through a process and found out more than you would have otherwise, and now you can get on with something else. That, I consider, would be a good return on your invested time. Don’t you?

Learn How To Make Money Online.

Maybe you’ve tried this a number of times only to find you’ve been lied to, it happens a lot in this industry, unfortunately.

We’ve all had our expectations raised to the ceiling and beyond about what’s possible in the online world, internet gurus abound spruiking how much money they’ve made, “buy my course and do the same”. Yeah right!

Been there done that.

There’s No Overnight Successes (People Lie)

Yep, that’s right sorry to burst your bubble but that’s the truth of it. People will tell you it’s easy…easy said but not easy in application.

That’s not neccessarily a lie, however, most of us focus on the word “easy” and go head long into things with that foremost in our minds.

Ultimately we’ll be disappointed because none of this is easy, and then, from that disappointment we conclude, right or wrong, we’ve been lied to.

So, let’s dispense with that now, nothing about developing an online business and/or any business for that matter is easy. Nothing.

Any business (online included) requires.

Hard work, and a clear understanding of what’s involved in creating success, and application of that understanding toward producing quality work; something of value to an end user.

Quality content, which answers people questions, or fulifills a need; where they’ll find what they’ve been looking for, whether a product or service.

And Time; yes it takes time to build your online presence. You cannot proscribe “I must be successful in 90 day’s or else I’m outta here. You won’t make it, and it’s unreasonable to ask it of yourself.

A Sound Business

You’ll want to establish instead, a sound steady business, one which will give you ongoing revenue for years to come. A business you’ll be proud of.

Once I realized that an online business is built around certain knowable principles, principles anyone can learn and apply. I felt a sense of relief and calmness about things & a level of ceratinty about where I’m headed and that’s what I hope for you too.

Why would I be surprised about discovering that this business is built around certain priinciples, what makes it any different to any other sort of business? Nothing really.

After all we’ve run a successful service industry business since 1990, commercial cleaning. We’ve sustained it by providing value to our clients year in year out, and an online business is no different.

Take an interest, a passion, an idea and create something special from it; here’s one way you can get started online.

Let’s get started.

If you are new to this as I was only 6months ago I recommend starting your first sites for free. I didn’t do this at the begining, failing to do this resulted in a loss of money. I almost gave up.

Good fortune came my way when; in September 2017 a friend referred me to Wealthy Affiliate.

I checked it out and this is where I landed.

Account Set Up Page
Wealthy Affiliate Create Free Account page

I put my details into the right boxes and created my free account. I was expecting they’d ask for credit card details or PayPal. Nearly all free website builders ask for them, not Wealthy Affilliate.

This was a pleasant surprise, finally an online platform offering a free account without my having to add card or PayPal details. This shows promise.

From there I found out about how to get started online, after creating my free account I discovered I could build two free websites and participate in a 10 lesson course.

  • Getting Rolling
  • Getting A Full Understanding Of  The Money Making Side Of An Online Business
  • Getting To Choose My Niche
  • Getting My Own Niche Website Built
  • Getting It Set Up Right
  • Getting Your  Site Ready For Search Engines
  • Getting Initial Content Created
  • Getting Custom Menus Created
  • Getting An Understanding Of Keywords
  • Getting To The Steps Beyond Starting Out…because this is really just the start of your journey

Note: Once you have your two free  websites built they’re available on a continuing basis. You won’t lose access to them.

There’s of course some encouragement to upgrade to premium a membership, however, be assured there’s no hard sell or relentless pushing.

And, there’s good reason to upgrade but in the end that’s entirely over to you…read more about why you’d want to upgrade here in my Wealthy Affiliate Review

Google wants to love you…so, let’s make it easy

Google wants to love you…so, let’s make it easy for them.

Summary: Google updated it’s Search Quality Evaluator Guide and released it 27 July 2017. Primarily the Guidelines cover Page Quality (PQ) rating and Needs Met (NM) rating, the concepts within the guide are also put to use across a wide range of rating tasks.

The “raters” orient to a purpose; [to evaluate search engine quality around the world].

Users (those using search engines and from there landing on pages) around the world should be able to get results that are useful to them in their selected language and location. If this is done then their Needs would’ve been Met (NM).

A Glossary before you go too far: We’re not going down a rabbit hole into technical terms!

  1. Webmaster; is someone responsible for website maintance.  It’s you or another, if you own a website then you are the webmaster.
  2. Website; yeah I know, you know this already, humour me anyway. A website or site is a group of World Wide Web pages usually containing hyperlinks to each other and made available online by an individual, company, educational institution, government, or organization. Facebook, Wikipedia, Yahoo, YouTube, etc.
  3. Hyperlink; it is a computing word, a link that refers the reader somewhere else by clicking, tapping or hovering. Hyperlinks may point you to a complete document or part of it. If you click on the underlined “Hyperlink” word you’ll see what I mean.

Ok, that’s close enough to that hole..!

If You Know this – You’re going to be OK.

If you know; Google has what it calls a “Search Quality Rating Program.” You can access it and inform yourself the role as a Webmaster.

  • Google is all about presenting a quality experience to it’s users and this intiative focuses on two functions; seach engine quality and page quality related to user experience, they’ve a lengthy manual/guide for use by thousands of quality raters when doing reviews.
  • A full copy of it can be found here.

Be warned, it’s long – 160 pages. But; It’s useful to have as a reference doc, there’s a clickable index which will take you to things you might want to know. And it’s loaded with examples of page quality characteristic from Lowest to Highest.

4 Website & Page Mistakes

The first mistake isn’t at all, is it? Neither is number 4, it’s fraud!

  1. Intentionally set out to harm your users, deceive them, or make money with no attempt to help users.
  2. Fail to make it clear who is responsible (Webmaster) for the website, it could be an individual, company, business, etc.
  3. Also failing to make it clear who created content on the pages. Pages should show who created the content, the individual, company, business, etc. Nearly all websites have “contact us” or “about us” or “about” pages that provide information about who owns the site. Users can be added to the site then given a role. Subscriber, Author, and etc.Dashboard User Role Changer
  4. Do you create fake reviews for your site, and or employ someone to do so? Google’s reviewers are urged to be skeptical of both positive and negative reviews particularly where there are but a few of them.

Google stresses importance on Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-A-T)

Expert-Authority-TrustThe amount of expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness (E-A-T) that a webpage, website has is very important. Main Content quality and amount, website information, and website reputation all form the E-A-T of a website.

Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-A-T)…something to keep in the forefront of your mind when it come to page content and ultimately site quality. Read up on this in section 3.2 page 18 of the document here.

Page Purpose (HELP)

As long as it is determined that the page is there to help users then google doesn”t, as a result, consider any page purpose to be superior than another.

“What’s the purpose of this page?” A question all raters will ask themselves of the page they’re reviewing from a quality stand point.

It’s actually nice to know that when you create a page with the purpose of helping, and that you present it in such a way it’s easy for them to access the help they are looking for your page is then then considered no less worthy than any other, even, an encyclopedia page.

For example:

A page from encyclopedia Britanica is not considered superior to that of “Bill’s Satirical Weekly”, if such exists, providing Bill has done everything to make his page genuinely helpful to the user.

What’s Helpful? (Google Says)

Let’s refer to the evaluators guide.

Common helpful page purposes include (but not limited to):

  •  To share information about a topic.
    • Government agencies do this.
    • Review Blogs and posts.
  •  To share personal or social information.
    • Facebook and other Social Media Platforms for example.
  • To share pictures, videos, or other forms of media.
    • Flickr.
  • To express an opinion or point of view.
    • Blog posts.
  • To entertain.
    • YouTube, Vimeo.
  •  To sell products or services.
    • Shopify shops
    • Ebay
    • Amazon
  •  To allow users to post questions for other users to answer.
    • Forums
    • Training Blogs
  •  To allow users to share files or to download software.

Google search file sharing sites

Webmasters and what they directly control

As the creator of this page I have direct control over the content.

By placing images, text, pages feature ( e.g., calendars, graphs), I am working with Main Content (MC)…these bits and pieces directly help me achieve the purpose of the page, helping you.

If I were to add a link to some other parts of my site, internal linking, that would be considered “Supplementary Content (SC)” and would give you the user a better experience.

Would it help this page directly achieve its purpose? No!

Even the content behind those links may in some cases be considered part of the SC of the page.

Damn, it is easy to go off on a tangent here. The point is; all these things are part of what you as Webmasters control.

They are very important to the user and their experience.

Ads placement to generate revenue

Webmasters can choose to place Ads on their pages.

Google certainly recognises Websites cost money to build and maintain. Without this any number of them wouldn’t exist. They say the “presence or absence of Ads is not by itself a reason for a High or Low quality rating.”

You cannot create high quality content without investing money.

As far as their evaluators guidline is concerned, “we will consider monetized links of any type to be “Ads”.”

The summary parts of a page

Summary: If you’re intent is to help and you follow through with it by setting up your pages in a way that the Needs of the user is Met then you’ll be on the right track. I hope this post has alerted you to two things.

  1. There’s such a thing as page quality rating.
  2. Your pages and websites must be helpful to users who’re coming to have their Needs Met.

Feel free to comment below, give me your feedback, thoughts and questions if you have any.

Thanks for reading. James

What’s a Long Tail Keyword?

What’s a long tail keyword?

It’s a phrase or term 3 or more words.

[ “A head term or head keyword, in contrast to a long-tail keyword, is a popular keyword with high search volume.Head terms are generally competitive to rank for in search results.”] https://www.wordstream.com/hea…

We’ll put the idea about “generally competitive” to the test soon enough using Jaaxy.

Is Amazon a “Head Term” with high search volume and generally competitive to rank for in search results?

Let’s see, we searched the term Amazon in Jaaxy, and while it gets an amazing number of searches and page visits each month the number of competing websites ranked in Google for that exact term is only 97 (that’s considered normal within Jaaxy). I’m surprised. I honestly thought it would be much higher than that.

Definitely a highly searched term, and on that front it qualifies as a Head Term.

It’s not that competitive though, and you could rank for it because there’s only 97 competing Websites ranked in Google for that keyword.

Do You Want to Rank in the Search Engines?

Then as far as Keyword is concerned; it comes down to the relevancy of the term to your niche and QSR, (Quoted Search Results) which is only available in Jaaxy, QSR tells you how many competing websites there are in Google for that keyword (LongTail Or NOT), use QSR as a stable datum around which all other pieces of information, opinion and conflicting points of view related to keywords swirl, and “you will rank well in all search engines”. For more on keyword data and QSR.

Table of Keywords for Amazon

What’s a long tail keyword research tool?

Over the years we’ve seen great improvement in search results when we search for stuff on the Internet.
Search algorithms have improved. We’ve become used to getting near exact matches returned for search terms; Google works hard at improving these results. Google RankBrain is one such improvement.

Brian Dean of backlinko.com produced a fantastic write up on Google Rank Brain:The Definitive Guide – Backlinko (Warning; it challenges conventional thinking around Long Tail Keywords).

Anyway, a good keyword tool should give you related keywords you’d possibly never think of alone, even if you had the time to do it. Most are quick and effective at providing search engine optimization help, without which we’d find it hard to rank.

Jaaxy is the only tool to return in it’s results; the number of competing websites in Google for an exact term. Read more about Jaaxy here.

As our Websites build authority we’ll cope better with competition but until then we’d do well to work with low competition keywords. Long Tail keywords are generally less competitive to rank for search engines.

Keyword Tool (Free)

It’s ranked number 3 position in Google “Keyword Tool” there’s a Pro version too, but for our purposes the free works fine, with it you’ll scrape 100’s of relevant Long Tail Keywords in an instant.

It scrapes words from Google Suggest, leveraging it’s  auto complete feature. From this free search you’ll end up with relevant long-tail keywords. However, you won’t know how competitive that exact keyword is. Not, until you use Jaaxy, it’s the only tool capable of returning that data.

Keyword Tool and Jaaxy Video

Relevant Keywords

Keywords to be relevant must closely match to your content message and web pages.

Answer The Public

Answer The Public (Free) is a fun tool to use…the first time I used it I wondered what the hell the guy was waiting for!

Eventually, I worked out, he was waiting for me to insert a word into the search bar…you’ll see what I mean.

I’m sure there’s much one could do with these tools in terms of deeper research, however, with Jaaxy we’re more than compensated with function and feature, and Jaaxy tells you something more than the others. The number of competing websites you’re going up against in Google for the exact keyword term.

So, now that’ we’ve some keyword terms we need now to insert them into Jaaxy to confirm whether they’re good for our purposes or not!

Google Alerts

Google Alerts brings keywords and inspiration right to your Gmail or any other preferred email, you can also get them in RSS feed.

It’s great for inspiration and creative research.

And, you can set it up if you’d like to know what mentions if any is being made about you, your website or branding.

You’ll be able to track keyword phrases, they’ll appear in Long Tail form too. There’s much more to this tool than you’d at first think… I know I underestimated it.

I’ve linked to a wonderful article you may care to read…see below this screen snip.

Google Alerts

What are Google Alerts?

[“You can think of Google Alerts as a customized Google Search — on-going — that delivers the search results to you automatically. You can set up any number of Alerts (up to 1000 per email address) to help you monitor online activity for the search terms of your choice.” Source: [Engaging Apricot]]
It’ll inspire you to use Google Alerts in ways you never thought possible!

Search Terms (Some Inspiration)

“Setting alerts for keywords that are relevant to your cause or community”…this line inspired me to use relevant to my niche Long Tail Keyword terms for search in Google Alerts. I can tweak these later if I’m not getting the results I want.

I especially liked the tip about setting up a separate Gmail account to receive alerts…this could be handy for someone wants to receive many alerts, and avoids overloading your personal email in box.

I thoroughly recommend it. It’s full of tweaks and refinements including how to force Google to look for instances where those words appear in a certain order. I’d love to know what you thought of the tutorial, certainly whether you found it helpful or not.

Alerts & Jaaxy Keyword Tool

You’ll want refine those alerts by inserting into Jaaxy keywords or phrases, and check QRS (Competing websites ranked in Google for that exact phrase).

Free Amazon Keyword Tool (Scientific Seller)

I stumbled upon this tool just moments ago, I don’t know much about it other than it reveals Amazon data.

But hey, I’ll try it and see what use can be made of it.

Easy enough to use; type in a “seed word” and the results started pouring in.

There’s instruction about the tool just beside the search box…it’s a good read.

They built this tool for their own use back in 2015, since then they didn’t promote it or do any SEO. People found it anyway…much in the same way I did, I guess!

So, here’s a glance at the results of my search.

It returns Amazon “Stuff” (their word not mine) words and Amazon Buyer Keywords. I paused the search after moments, as I already had over 100 keywords returned, it’s one other way of getting creative in your keyword searches.

Here! Shoot over and try it out: Scientific Seller

Again, we’ll plug these keywords into Jaaxy and check QSR. My main interest.

Free Amazon Keyword Tool - Scientific Seller

Amazon Buyer Keywords & Jaaxy

Let’s see if you’d rank in Google using Amazon buyer keywords in your content!

Just type in a phrase or keyword into the search box below and test it for yourself.

Remember! No other keyword tool shows the number of competing websites for your intended keyword term. A feature unique to Jaaxy, you’ll benefit from it by know what keyword term to use to better you ranking in Google and other search engines.

Suppose you want to market Amazon Products, well you’d certainly combine Amazon Buyer Keyword returns with Jaaxy’s ability to determine whether you’d rank in Google should you use it.

There’s a numerical value shown in Jaaxy (QSR) for each keyword term if it goes too high then that term is “poor” and you’d be wise to find another keyword. When your sites gather momentum and authority you’ll have a better chance of getting ranked for more competitive keywords. Until, that happens stick with low competition keywords.

Summary

Creative Keyword Research is only going to serve you well if you follow through with Jaaxy and establish QSR (Quoted Search Results). There’re two things about keywords above and beyond all other things.

  1. Relevancy; of keyword to niche and message.
  2. QSR; number of competing website in Google for that exact keyword term.

You’ll want to establish relevancy to your content website and message first. If, it’s not relevant hen don’t go with it. Next,  check it for QSR. That’s it really.

If, you’d like to know more about Jaaxy check this review here.

  • Let’s say you want to go over and visit the site you’re analyzing, “am I able to do that”? YES!
  • Stuck for niche ideas? Brainstorm with Jaaxy

The Owners

Jaaxy Co-Founders Kyle and Carson. The guys who also co-founded Wealthy Affiliate they created Jaaxy for marketers; because their own experience in Affiliate Marketing pointed up a lack of efficient tools to do the kind of targeted research they were looking for.

Jaaxy is FREE to Wealthy Affiliate Memberships;  read more here.

Or feel free to leap into it, insert a search term in the Widget below:

Jaaxy’s Search Bar

3 things to note about the search bar.

  • You can also enter a URL as keyword
  • The plus + beside the green button once clicked increases the number of search tabs, this allows you to search more keywords in one search. Saving you time. Note: Jaaxy FREE and LITE don’t include this feature. (We’ll look at both these soon.)
  • History, handy if you’d like to locate something you’ve search already.

Type a term in the search bar below and test it for yourself:

Search Bar Within Jaaxy

So, we’ve entered our phrase (keyword) from which we’ll get returned results (25). Let’s look at the following tabs and break them down.

  • Avg: This figure (684) is; the average number of searches that the keyword receives per month.
  • Traffic: This tells you how many visits you’ll get to your website if you achieve first page rankings in the Search Engines.
  • QSR: Quoted Search Results; the number of competing websites ranked in Google for this exact keyword.
  • KQI: Keyword Quality Indicator; acts like traffic signals. Green = good, Yellow = OK, and Red = Poor (or don’t proceed).
  • SEO: This is a score based on traffic and competition, the higher the score, the more likely you will rank for this keyword on the first page (scale of 1 – 100, higher = better).
  • Domains: Availability of domains related to the keyword.

Using Jaaxy FREE  and Pro you’ll need to click “Get QSR” under the KQI tab (the result will appear under QSR). Note: It auto generates in  Jaaxy Enterprise. Some (especially, power affiliates and those who’re doing a lot of market research find this saves a lot of time).

You’ve Targeted Some Niches – What next?

Checklist these 3 points and answer them before you decide you’re ready to move forward.

These are Important to establish before you move forward, unless you intend a purely social niche website.

  • What are people within your prospective niche looking for? (Product or Service or Skill and so on)
  • What way can you help them? ( You’ll want to have some idea about how you’re going to help them, perhaps; you’ll write a review or share information)
  • What product or service can you recommend or point them to. And, does it have an Affiliates program? If so, is it going to return you enough revenue for your time and work?

From there decide whether to move forward with the niche or not.

”  Paraphrased from: “Stripping Niches, Uncovering Keywords, & Becoming Successful”. Put together by Kyle and Carson (Wealth Affiliate.com). It’s one of three FREE bonus downloads available to Jaaxy Subscribers.

Domain Search

This feature is very cool because you’ll be able to select an exact match Domain from your keyword, if Top Level Domains; .com .org .net are “unavailable” it’ll say so. See screenshot.

Screen Snip Of Search Bar

You’ll note there’s a link to buy the domain if you want, you can do it all from this one page.

And, notice just how smooth it goes from idea to research, to finding and buying your own domain around which you’ll build your business.

This seems like a small factor, barely worth mentioning, right? Well, if you’ve been through the hoops a few times trying to find a domain for an exact keyword you like, you’ll nod your head and say, “Geez that’s handy”.

From here it’s a matter of clicking one of the links “Buy this domain” and you’ll end up here; most domains are priced between $13 and $16 USD. As you can see from the snip, prices include Whois Privacy Guard, Emails, Hosting, Backups, and 24/7 Site Support.

Related Tab in Jaaxy

These are keywords that relate to the term you searched.

Selecting one related item starts another search; you’re drilling down further into your selected niche, and refining it.

Site Rank

Would you like to know where sites rank in the search engines?

Curiosity turns to strong interest once you realize the power of knowing where exactly your website/s sit in relation to page one. Not only that, you’ll want to know where other sites within your niche rank, you won’t be able to resist taking a peek.

Keywords Research & Management

Keywords search is likely to be your go to point in Jaaxy, it’s the most accessed feature of Jaaxy.

There’s a huge number of ways to find niche relevant keywords. You’ll create lists of them…probably many lists.

Now you’ll want a good way of manging them…

Well, here’s one way; one I’ve adopted and adapted to my liking.

Duplicate it if you’d like and/or click the link below my adapted version and checkout the original written by Loes (Premium Member of Wealthy Affiliate).

My Adapted Method of Keyword Management

  1. Go to Jaaxy Search type in a phrase relevant to your niche and execute the search.
    1. Make a list of possible keyword phrases, make it as long as you want.
    2. Select the ones you want and save the search to list with Jaaxy (saving keyword lists within Jaaxy saves time).
  2. Then check Related Tab for other relevant keyword phrases.
    1. Excute another search by clicking a relevant term within this tab, the search will start directly.
    2. And add from this search  any you want to your list.
    3. Once you’ve enough select “view list”, you can do this within the “Save to List” tab.

This is what you’ll see when it opens.

List of items on web page
Saved Keyword List
  • Download it as a TXT file and save the excel file for future reference. (Note: I export all data, it makes it easier to quick reference keyword stats).

From the spreadsheet I copy to my website, here’s how.

  1. Select & copy as many as you think you’ll want to work with, the best of them you’re going to use as titles. Go to Posts – Add New and paste the data. Note: It’ll paste as an editable table.
  2. Then select the best phrases for titles change their text colour to red or another something to set the best apart from the rest.
  3. The other phrases leave as they are.
  4. Take unique words from the other phrases and use them throughout your article. Loes’ suggest stricking through the unique words as you use them. It works.

Pros and Cons

Having the use of Jaaxy since September 2017 I find there’s a lot about about it to like.

Let’s go through the Pros!
  • You can try it for Free, you don’t have to supply your credit card details. This compares well with LongTailPro Platinum FREE Trial…they expect you to add your Credit Card Details.  (This is a pet peeve of mine…I won’t proceed with a trail, ever, if I have to supply credit card details).
  • The navigation is user friendly making it easy to select different parts of the tool.
  • Support and training are available and easy to find.
  • It is a very comprehensive keyword research tool, you’ll be able to uncover hidden gems you can capitalize on.
  • You can down-grade your Subscription.
  • It’s server based, meaning there’s no software to download.
  • You can find and purchase Domains from within Jaaxy.
The Cons.
  • There’s no language pack in Jaaxy; those not familiar with the English Language will be at a disadvantage.
  • Pro and Enterprise Subscriptions are at the higher end of the spectrum for premium keyword tools.
  • There’s a lot to learn about Jaaxy and this can be daunting. Especially to those who’re new to keyword research.

Summary (Jaaxy Keyword Tool)

I’ve tried to give you an in depth look at the inner workings of a great keyword research tool. I’m using it, & learning more about it each day. It’s used by thousands of people, perhaps 10s of thousands daily. To varied success of course.

It’s a tool for use, and in the hands of one who’s willing to make full and complete use of all it’s many features, the results, I’m sure, would be spectacular. In someone’s elses hands; not so much!

I recommend to you to; use Jaaxy Keyword Tool,  leverage it’s features to improve your chances of success.

That’s what I’m doing.

Use it to find relevant low competition keyword phrases. Especially important at very early stages of site development. Continue to use it form there onward to greater profit and success.

If you think I’ve missed something, or could’ve expanded on some points, please do let me know.

Post up in comments below. Also stay tuned for more about keywords, I’m going to walk through some ways to find keywords, research them and build some lists you can copy and insert into Jaaxy for your own further research. You never know from that you could end up creating a great business.

Here’s to your success

Thanks for reading 🙂

James

Affiliate Disclosure

In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission released their new rules for Disclosure Compliance. These rules are set in place to ensure that readers or viewers of web media (blogs, Youtube videos, etc.) know if the blogger/presenter is sponsored, endorsed, or partnered with a different company. In blog terms, the readers need to know if the blogger is making money by sharing a link or product.

In compliance with the FTC guidelines, please assume the following about links and posts on this site: Any/all of the links Smallbusinesskils.com are affiliate links of which I receive a small compensation from sales of certain items.

What are affiliate links?

Purchases are made on external affiliate company websites: When a reader clicks on an affiliate link located on .com to purchase an item, the reader buys the item from the seller directly (not from Smallbusinesskils.com). Amazon and/or other companies pay Smallbusinesskils.com a small commission or other compensation for promoting their website or products through their affiliate program.

Prices are exactly the same for you if your purchase is through an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link.

I use two main types of affiliate programs:

1. Amazon affiliate links.

Smallbusinesskils.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties including, but not limited to, amazon.com. Amazon offers a small commission on products sold through their affiliate links. Each of your purchases via our Amazon affiliation links supports our cause at no additional cost to you.

If a blogger links to an Amazon product (with a special code for affiliates embedded in the link), and a reader places an item in their “shopping cart” through that link within 24 hours of clicking the link, the blogger gets a small percentage of the sale. Amazon links are not “pay per click.” If you click on the product link and stay around Amazon and purchase something else, however, I will get commission on that sale.

Anytime you see a link that looks like astore.com/… or amazon.com… it can be assumed that it is an Amazon affiliate link.

2. Product affiliate links.

These affiliate links work the same way: if you click the link and buy the product, then the blogger gets a percentage of the sale or some other type of compensation. Things like e-book bundles, e-courses, and online packages are usually affiliate links, as well. Again, prices are not different if you use these affiliate links. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link. These links are not “pay per click”, unless otherwise denoted.

What about sponsored content?

I do not write sponsored posts. I want to bring you real, unbiased information. However, if a post is sponsored by a company and it is a paid sponsorship, I will disclose this clearly in the beginning of the post.

Kyle and Carson. (Live it or leave it)

About Kyle

Kyle Co-owner Wealthy Affiliate“Since the inception of Wealthy Affiliate in Sept, 2005, I have a new found passion — helping others succeed online. This is not an easiest of tasks, and everyone coming to WA comes from a different background, with a different story, but my (and Carson’s) goal is to continue to work towards creating a system that will induce widespread success among the WA community members.” Kyle.

My Impression of Kyle

Kyle is easy to like. Why? Well, he’s engaged, and he means what he says. There’s no hidden agenda in anything he or Carson say or do (they’re co-founders/owners of Wealthy Affiliate).

Kyle is more public facing within Wealthy Affiliate than Carson.

In the few months I’ve been a member I have been able to contact Kyle directly (because he’s engaged and available) through private messaging, in chat or within classrooms.

Kyle lives Wealthy Affiliate.

About Carson

Carson Co-owner Wealthy Affiliate“I got my first Computer in 1994, and since then technology has always sparked my interest. Kyle and I created Wealthy Affiliate to bridge the gap between education, social networking, and technology. We’re a small tech company (in a sense) with big ideas!” Carson.

My Impression of Carson

Like Kyle, Carson’s easy to like and is engaged within the member community of Wealthy Affiliate, but it seems to me, to a lesser degree.

It makes sense, a technology driven platform such as WA needs someone behind scenes to see to smooth runnings, that’s Carson.

That said,  Carson is still available to members through message boards and chat.

Re-skill (Training) for the New Industrial Revolution Economy

One thing that never changes; is change! It’s Constant, If we look at the world of today to that of 5 years ago or even less it’s hard to pin point anything not undergoing some sort of change.

A new economy’s emerging as a result of Technology, Data and we live a connected life because of it, like it or not.

I don’t think there’s ever been as much opportunity available to individuals as exits today, an exciting opportunity for us all.

But, we’ll want to gain or expand our skills adequate enough to the job at hand.

What skills I hear you ask?

Coding yes, but we’re NOT talking about coding only, not by a longshot.

How about; sales opportunities, about consumers and their ability to find information on exactly the things they want or would like!

Relationships, marketing, helping people, market research, search engine optimization, and content writing to name but a few digital age skills we’ll want as we move forward.

These skill sets plus, are central to the Fourth Industrial Revolution intiative and where Wealthy Affiliate’s education and training platform shines.

Let’s get into Wealthy Affiliate. OK?

(2.) Affiliate Bootcamp

Summary: Wealthy Affiliate (WA) owners Kyle and Carson affiliates before birth! (Eventually they co-founded WA). But, before that, involved themselves in 100’s of affiliate programs over the years and have firsthand experience of what affiliates want.

Out of that they created one of the best affiliate programs available to all members of WA, they’ve designed comprehensive training to develop skills specific to marketing WA as affiliates. Affiliate Bootcamp.

“We live and breathe Wealthy Affiliate and as time goes on, the platform here truly evolves and gets better with every day that passes. We built WA based on helping people succeed, and we don’t have any plans to divert from our core principles.” Kyle.

Next up, I’m Asked About My Training Here

How’s the Training James?

Glad you asked, thanks!

I’m doing it all Part Time…least ways til I get rocking with it…take that into consideration as you read forward, however, so far it’s…

It’s good, but then at the same time, it’s been tough too, and not always a walk in the park. Certainly not for the fainthearted. And, there’s work, and commitment!

Sometimes, I’ve back tracked and reset the courses (or parts of them) and come forward again. That’s ok.

Anytime I’m unsure on anything I backrack and find what I missed. That’s gold.

It’s a beautiful thing; and one of many benefits of WA Premium Membership,  unlimited educational resources. Including unlimited times through material NO ADDED COST or SURPRISES. NONE. PERIOD!

So, in all, I’m very pleased with my progress.

That you’re reading this far into this review is kinda testimony to the question; how’s the training been for you, James?

Don’t ya think? Anyway, it’s in line with a plan (My Little Plan).

My Little Plan.

I came to WA acting on inspiration & with my eyes open, in a bid to succeed over time in building an online business, gain new skills, and create a new businesses, while expanding our existing bricks and mortar business in new directions. I said to my wife “give me 12 months”.

As kyle said in a private message sent me only a few days ago:

“People that segment and give their success time limits, rarely ever achieve it. That is something I have seen over the years and giving yourself minimum of a year of effort is such a small fragment of time in the scheme of things…but a time allotment that can truly allow you to have breakthroughs in your business”. Kyle

Keyword Research Jaaxy Keyword Tool(Find Your People)

Summary: Jaaxy Keyword tool is available to all who sign up with WA Starter and Premium Memberships. It’s owned by co-founders of WA (Kyle and Carson). Until recently (13 Dec 2017)  searches on Jaaxy by WA members were limited to 30 searches (unless you had either “Pro” or “Enterprise” membership within Jaaxy, a seperate service altogether and at a fee).

It’s now completely integrated for both Starter and Premium members.

Carson explains it all here..

.Keyword research replaces Market Research of old.

Why?

Because of Data and Technology. And, we’ve tools to help us research and locate markets. A small business can find small niche groups looking for very specific things by learned use of a Keyword tool such as Jaaxy.

Understanding Keywords, The Start of Your Content

Keyword Research; is where we’ll find terms people are using to find info or stuff, and or (as we well know) things to buys or sell.

The funny part about this is; people actually tell us what they want, all we have to do is communicate with them about it. In other words help them to get what it is they want. Show them where and link the two together.

We’ll work in micro markets carved from volumes of people who search the Internet everyday. They’ll become our small segment of Billions of people.

Google alone, fields 3.5 Billion searches every day. That’s HUGE, don’t you think?

So, we find our micro market (Niche), create our website (important), and round up the ways we can communicate with this relatively very small number of people.

Let’s take an inside peek at Keyword Research using Jaaxy…

  5. Somewhere along the way you’ll decide to either continue or withdraw. If you decide to continue then you pay $49 and get on with it. Or read step (6).
  6. This exactly what I did, but, I decided to pay a year in advance and saved a lot of money.  I call it premium two ways, drip feed monthly @ $49 per, or go for broke and pay $359 in advance for the year. Do the math…12months x $49 is a tad under $600. Give or take. That’s close to $240 saved for the year. It’s well worth it, checkout the options table here.

How to get your business on Google and build a FREE WEBSITE too!

Let’s get started.

Two Kinds Of Website.

There’s free.

Let’s talk FREE. (It’s an option).

Did you know, Google offers a free website for Google My Business customers?

Well, they do.

It’s now free for any business VERIFIED within Google My Business (GMB). More about “VERIFIED” SOON!

IMPORTANT TIP:

If you run your business from home, as do we, and don’t want people rocking up without invitation please be sure to check “YES” in the last box of the set up form. Note; even though you have to list your business street address if you check “Yes” in the last box on the form your address remains hidden from public view, only you can see it.

You cannot proceed through set up without advising of a physical street address, to know more about it just hit their “important information” link in the same box.

Google My Business (Not Meant For Online Businesses?)

Now, I didn’t know this, not until after setting it up. That’s my “Show Tell Reviews” site near the fold of the page, I have since deleted it. But in hindsight I see no reason why this wouldn’t still work. MY OPINION ONLY. GMB is apparently only for physical businesses. Fortunately I have a Commercial Cleaning Business too and I am setting GMB up for that. Once I get my verification code (it is here in 6 days as of today) I’ll do a walk through post about setting it up and building out my free site on Google.

I think this is going to work well for local business.

We’ll see how it all goes hey?

Please feel free to drop comments or questions below, I promise to respond.
